3 rd ANNUAL PICNIC IN THE PARK 2007

At Torpy Park Saturday August 4th. The goal was to raise money and or canned goods for the Lakeland Food Pantry.

The 2nd Annual Picnic in the Park, sponsored by Ascension and Calvary Lutheran Churches is now over and done.  Was held Saturday August 4th at Torpy Park in Minocqua and it was FANTASTIC.

 

In 2006 the Picnic in the Park brought in $485.00 and 300 pounds of food.  Holding the event a month earlier the organizers felt they could do much more this year.  Knowing that it all would be going to the Lakeland Food Pantry, it gave everyone such a good feeling.  Thrivent Financial for Lutheran had a challenge, if they hit the $970.00 mark, they would increase that by $485.00.  So a goal was set.

 

Because this was a Church sponsored event, the Good Lord made his contribution by having the day beautiful.  Was quite a sight to see,  the people just kept coming.  We ran out of Brats, they were so good, and grilled to perfection.  All in all it was a huge success and its all due to everyone’s donations.  Whether it was any one of the business’s that donated the products for this Picnic to happen.  T.J.'s Butcher Block supplied the Brats.  Having Gregg Thomas with his band playing for everyone all day made it even nicer.  The hard workers from both congregations that worked their fannies off pulling this together.  These were all the things that put this day in motion, but the folks that came to eat, spend time and make their donations for the Food Pantry is why we made our goal and then some.  In money, the total was $1,257.75 and food items totaled  585 pounds.  Since we collected that amount, Thrivent Financial will add $485.00 which brings the grand total to $1,742.75.
