THE LENTEN SEASON BEGINS Lent is a forty day season of the church year when we look at how we use our time and how we spend our days. We discover and admit to ourselves, if we are honest, that there is room for improvement in the way we live and in the choices we make. Lent is about standing at the foot of the cross and seeing how its shadow falls across each of us. We have put Jesus on that cross by our own careless living. Starting with Ash Wednesday on February 22nd we will gather for midweek worship at 6:30 pm. Together we will “Cross off the Weeks” as we move toward Holy Week and Easter. In our worship we will gather at the cross for prayer; the cross will be our focus in homily, readings and meditation. The cross is our most potent symbol but because it is also so common we tend to take it for granted. Join us for a simple supper of soup and bread each Wednesday at 5:30. Then at 6:30, we adjourn for worship (February 22, 29, March 7, 14, 21 and 28). |

Call on Faith, which is available for the Droid, Blackberry and iPhone (plus the iTouch), offers multiple channels that feature inspiration, encouragement and information. These include prayer, spirit boost, wise words, compassionate acts and meditations, with additional channels planned on such topics as news, parenting, music, addiction recovery and grieving.
